Jurek Cup Coming Soon

The Jurek Cup is an exciting Ryder Cup-style event pitting teams from Green Haven and The Ponds against each other. It will be held July 25-26. Saturday's round will be played at the Ponds, and Sunday's round at Green Haven.

We would like about 24-36 golfers to represent our club. Register by July 1 on the signup sheet outside the pro shop.

POST-EVENT UPDATE:
Unfortunately, the Ponds team took it to us this year. We'll get 'em next year!

Handi Handicap Hints

Beginning this Wednesday, April 1, 2015, all rounds of golf are to be recorded for handicap revision purposes. Handicap revisions are sent on the 1st and 15th of each month beginning April through October. Be sure to check your handicap each time you play. You can access handicaps through the computer in the proshop, check out the paper version in the alcove outside of the proshop, or get the MGA/USGA to email you your revision.

All scores posted must be adjusted according to your handicap. Below you will see the maximum score you can take on any given hole. You need to subtract before posting your score.

ALL 0 - 9 handicaps - double bogey is the most you can score on any hole
ALL 10 - 19  handicaps - 7 is the most you can score on any hole
ALL 20 - 29 handicaps - 8 is the most you can score on any hole
ALL 30 - 39 handicaps - 9 is the most you can score on any hole
ALL 40 - 49 handicaps - 10 is the most you can score on any hole

All registration maintenance has almost been completed on the Anoka Golf League roster. Any 2014 member who has not registered for 2015 will be unable to record scores - you will be inactivated. If you want to get in the Anoka Men's Club and be able to play in league events and tournaments and maintain a handicap, you must return your registration form and dues ASAP. If you do not register, you will be unable to record your scores. All registrations turned in after April 1 will be charged a $10 late fee.

If you have any questions regarding handicaps, contact Pat Murray. If you have any questions regarding registration, there are forms in the proshop.

Helpful Handicap Hints

While the golf in Minnesota has opened very early, the MGA/USGA handicap system for Minnesota has not yet opened.  All March play in Minnesota is considered "practice" with none of the scores being posted for handicap revision.  The MGA/USGA handicap system for Minnesota does not open until April 1.  All play on and after April 1 and until October 31 is to be posted.  Remember that all Men's Club Thursday, Event, and Tournament scores will be posted by the handicap chair (Pat Murray), and all other scores daily play is to be posted by the player or player designee.  The only tournament scores that do not need to be posted by the handicap chair are your Classic and individual Challenge matches.  All of those matches MUST be posted as "T"ournament scores either by the players or the scorecard can be put into the scorecard box in the computer room and the chair will post.  If you want the chair to post the scores, you MUST identify the scores as Classic or Challenge scores by writing those words CLEARLY across the card.

Remember, all cards must have the players names (no nicknames, please), hole-by-hole scores, and date of play CLEARLY printed on each card.  If a card is not clearly written, those scorecards will not be posted.  ALSO, an "X" on a card indicates a handicap score according to your handicap.  If you skipped a hole, the handicap score is appropriate.  If you do poorly on a hole and have gone over your adjusted score, you are better off putting the adjusted score down than putting an "X".  An adjusted score and a handicap score are not the same score.  Both, however, are determined by your handicap.

If you have ANY questions regarding handicaps, please feel free to contact Pat Murray via email (patrickjamesmurray@comcast.net) or either Tony Simon or Dan Cowan - the handicap committee members.

Brand New Website

We hope you enjoy this new website and find it useful. It will be a work in progress that will get better. One key to making it a great tool is for you to share your thoughts and ideas. Feel free to leave a comment below, or email the webmaster (Rick Hagberg).

One goal is to use the site to replace the annual printed roster booklet. All the information previously in the booklet is available here. Besides being more convenient, it will create cost savings for the club.

New 9-9-9 Super Combination Tournament

Our Spring and Fall 6-6-6 Combination Tournaments are among the most popular events on our schedule. This year, we're adding a brand new 9-9-9 Super Combo.

A total of 27 holes will be played Saturday, June 13. It's a two man team event (pick your own partner), playing nine holes of two man best ball, nine holes scramble and nine holes alternate shot.

Put the date on your schedule - it should be a blast.
